Learning the Signs of Drug Abuse.

Are you abusing alcohol?  An alcoholic is one who typically continues to drink to excess even after they know that they may be in a downward spiral.  Alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction are NOT the same.  Alcohol addiction is specific to psychological and physical dependency.  Individuals who may be suffering from alcohol abuse will build a tolerance to the drug even after problems have surfaced.

What about cocaine abuse?  Cocaine is the type of drug that increases dopamine in the brain.  Dopamine typically gives one a sense of euphoria and emboldens the individual for a short period of time making them feel more “in charge”.  There is a considerable potential of abuse however, which may lead to psychiatric disorders, disease, and heart failure.
